Mary Lou Finney,a thirteen year old girl, needs to write a journal for her English class. Then she talks about her parents,her seventeen year old sister (Maggie), her twelve year old brother(Dennis),her eight year old brother (Doug known as Dougie),and four year old brothers (Tommy) as well.Mary Lou had liked a boy named Alex Cheevey who is really a jerk. Next she tells about Megan and Christy talking about Christy’s party,which Mary Lou is not invited to,Mary Lou thinks the party is really stupid. Mary Lou’s best friend is Beth Ann who walks from school to home.Mary Lou’s cousin Carl Ray comes to the Finney’s residence to look for a job for possibly the rest of the summer. Mary Lou’s mother gives a long list to do for the preparations for the arrival of Carl Ray.Mary Lou ended up doing all the work with little help from Dougie because Maggie went to the ER with Dennis who got hurt from the old bed’s spring.When Carl Ray arrived, he hardly talks and all he did is eat and stay in his own room. Also just when dinner is set on the table he appears to eat.He will gets all the privileges first like use the bathroom and get his food first.Maggie is out with her boyfriend Kenny and it is one AM.She is going to be in so much trouble because she left at noon.
